It was a big week in the never-ending Internet browsers race. First, Firefox 4 was finally launched two days ago  – last of the next generation browsers to hit the market,  trailing behind Chrome 10 and Internet Explorer 9. It brought some new and interesting changes to UI – a brightly colored Firefox start button, that looks like something nicked from a recent Opera version, plus a tab-pinning function, no doubt nicked from Google. I just wish that Firefox would go further with their “borrowing” spree and include a cool IE9’s option to pin the websites to your task bar. But this release was not only about reused UI ideas. Reviewers praised new Firefox for its improved speed, GPU acceleration, and compatibility with latest and greatest standards, including HTML5. Over all, it’s a very modern, lean and mean browser, a clear improvement over previous 3.6 version.

The reactions were overall very positive, so no wonder Google, fiercely competing with Firefox for a second spot in the browser market, decided to steal some of its thunder and scrambled to push the new Chrome beta out of the door. They managed to do so yesterday, and after just a couple of hours, tech fanatics all around the globe were commenting various new Chrome features. So how does new Chrome compare to new Firefox? While Firefox 4 seems to be concentrating more on general polish, increased speed, and some UI changes, Chrome creators actually attempted to came up with something new. First up is the speech input option. Although it won’t help you much if you’re a non-native speaker with a runny nose, it works well enough, and Google claims that popular websites will pick this one up. Soon, you might be able to ask Google for a search query, or name things you want to look for on eBay.

But that’s not everything. There are also 3D Cascading Style Sheets. If you’re not a tech-oriented person, this may sound like a mouthful. But to put things simply, 3D CSS will allow websites to include some nifty 3d effects and transformations, like page flips or cylindrical menu’s, or page content bending under the mouse cursor. But that’s only if webmasters take time to code the effects visible only to a small number of browsers. Then, there is also speed. Even though it’s only an unpolished, beta version, Chrome 11 still manages to outperform Firefox 4 in several benchmarks, including javascript  Sunspider and Futuremark’s Peacekeeper. Which one would I pick? Well, it’s a bit unfair to compare a finished product, like Firefox 4, to beta test version, even though Chrome 11 Beta is surprisingly stable and bug-free. Unfortunately, most of the improvements offered by Chrome will become useful only after websites adapt them. And by that time, Firefox will no doubt be sporting similar features. An exciting new feature has been added to Gmail Labs is “Location in Signature”. Just enable this lab feature and Gmail will automatically append your current location (the city and the country name) to your Gmail signature, like this:
Note that this feature uses public IP address to identify your current location, so it may be inaccurate sometimes or may slightly vary.

Here is the step by step procedure to turn on this feature-
1. Log into your Gmail inbox.
2. Go to Settings -> Labs and scroll down a bit to locate the “Location in Signature” feature.
3. Check the Enable radio button to enable this feature and click on save changes.
4. Now go to Settings -> General and go to the signature settings. Check Append your location

That’s it. Now your signature will always contain your current location. As this feature uses your IP address, guess you must have understood how exactly this feature works. It tracks the location of your IP and appends the same location as your “location signature” and hence, as said earlier, your location may vary slightly.

Click Start, click Programs, and then click Command Prompt. In Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type cmd and then click OK.

At the command prompt, type CONVERT [driveletter]: /FS:NTFS. Convert.exe will attempt to convert the partition to NTFS.

How to recover MOST of scratched CD data discs

I learn an old thecnique to how to recover damaged or scratched disks with some lost of data. In this case i have one borrowed game - MAX PAYNE 2 with a chunck of 4 mb lost with a scratch in CD1 Install. Here we cover some special thecniques of how to create a full working CD from the scratched one.

First some tools will be needed:

1. Alcohol 120%
2. UltraISO
3. Windows XP/2000 (not tested on 95/98/me)
3. Small piece of cotton
4. Dry cleaner paper
5. Finally, oil for cooking.

First step - preparing the CD

Get the cotton and drop some water, start cleaning vertically the surface of CD. Do it 3 times and dry the water with a piece of dry cleaner paper. With a new piece of cotton, drop some oil for cooking and start to wet the surface like you are washing the CD with the oil. Dry carefully now. Some particles of oil will stay on the microsurface of the scrath. It's okay. Seems the oil helps the laser of the CD/DVD driver to read the surface again. Sure this will work with small unreadable scratchs - some hard scratchs loose parts of the surface of the CD where we have data and it's lost forever. But if it is loosed try anyway. Whith this tip 80% of the small scratched CD's coud be recovered.

Second Step - testing the CD

With Alcohol 120% make an ISO - image making wizard - and lets see if the app can read the loosed surface. In my case Alcohol 120% had recovered 60% of the data. This is not enough. Have tryed other appz, they do not recover all the data. But the CD/DVD driver laser CAN recover all data in this case. the data is still there, what we do?

third step - making the new CD With the main copy system of windows explorer you can do it. Just create one folder with the same name of the CD label for future burn reference, and copy the CD content to the folder. When the CD copy process find the scratch, in majority of the cases, it's slow down the reading and will recover ALL loosed data.If not, it just tell you there's
an unreadable sector. In this case your CD is lost. But it's not my case, finally windows explorer got all the data from the scratch and made a copy in the folder.with the ultraISO, wrote the original CD label, drop the content of the folder andsave as Iso. You can Test the new CD just mounting the iso in the Alcohol 120%. In my case i did ISO of the two discs from MAX PAYNE 2 and tested installing from the mounted ISO. Works like a charm. I got the 4 mb lost again. So, I have burned the CD and now i have a working copy from the scratched one.

Sounds too bizzarre, but works. Course you can jump the cleaning process and try to copy
the content with Windows explorer. But in my case did not work without oil...

1. Go to Start ----> Run . Type regedit, then enter .
2.Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER --------> Software --->yahoo ----->pager---->Test
3.On the right page , right-click and choose new Dword value .
4.Rename it as Plural.
5.Double click and assign a decimal value of 1.

Its done!!
Now close registry and restart computer and try Multiple Login

Bypassing Windows Xp Service Pack Installation

Many Times, New Softwares, Games require you to have the Latest Service Packs to Install. There's a way to bypass that.
You can change your Service Pack 2 to display 3, or vice-versa.

Step 1: Open the run option from the start menu and type in 'regedit' and press enter
Step 2: Make a backup of your registry (just in case)
Step 3: Browse to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control Windows"
Step 4: Modify the value of "CSDVersion" from "0x00000200" (SP2) to the Windows XP SP3 value of "0x00000300"
Step 5: Close registry editor
Step 6: Reboot your computer
